BURN.SYNDICATE — COMMUNITY STATEMENT
Cannabis legalization is a win — but only if it reaches the people who paid the highest price for it.
For decades, Black communities and people of color were criminalized, targeted, and locked up for the same plant that's now generating billions in a legal market. People lost jobs, housing, custody of their children, and years of their lives. Families were torn apart. Futures were derailed. And that history doesn't get erased with a dispensary on every corner or a celebrity weed brand on the shelf.
At Burn.Syndicate, standing with our community isn't a tagline — it's the whole point. We were built from this culture, and we refuse to move forward without addressing the people who were left behind by a system that criminalized them and then turned around and capitalized off the same thing. Real justice means expungement. It means economic opportunity. It means making sure the communities that carried this plant through the hardest years are the ones who benefit from where it's going.
We're here to share resources, amplify advocacy, and make sure nobody in our community has to navigate this alone. Whether you're trying to clear a record, find legal help, or just figure out where to plug in — we've got you. Because legalization was never supposed to be the finish line. It's the starting point for making things right.
Do you have a record? Free legal help exists.
You don't have to figure it out alone. Here are organizations working to help:
- NORML.org/laws/expungement — state-by-state expungement law guide
- LastPrisonerProject.org — legal support and advocacy for those still incarcerated
- LawHelp.org — find free legal aid in your state
- CleanYourRecord.org — free record-clearing resources nationwide
Take action — your voice matters
Cannabis reform is still happening right now, at every level of government. Here's where to plug in:
- NORML.org/act — contact your rep in 60 seconds, any state
- LastPrisonerProject.org — advocacy to free those still incarcerated for cannabis
- DrugPolicy.org — drug policy reform centered on all communities
- MPP.org — state-by-state cannabis reform tracker
The legal landscape is changing — but change doesn't automatically reach everyone equally. We are here to make sure it does for our people.
With love and solidarity,
— BURN.SYNDICATE, LLC
